10 nights with 9 Days of Jaguar PhotographyOur specialist UK-born jaguar photographer-guide Chris has spent perhaps more time photographing jaguars over the past decade than any other international photographer, and will be on hand at all times to assist in obtaining the very best images of jaguars, and jaguars hunting their prey of caiman crocodiles, capybaras, giant river otters and even anacondas! Daryl Balfour has been a pro wildlife photographer around the globe for more than 30 years & was absolutely blown away by his first visit here!
We have secured accommodation and boats for our small & exclusive groups at the best location in the region - the jaguar hot-spot - for the duration of our stay. Rooms are spacious but basic, and importantly - airconditioned! |
Travel DetailsThe safari begins in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso province, Brazil with a mid-morning start to drive down the trans-Pantaneira highway to our destination for the next 10 nights, the Porto Jofre Hotel rght on the banks of the Cuiaba River. The hotel is included in your package on a full-board basis, along with all road and boat travel but you will need to arrange your own international air to São Paulo and onwards to Cuiaba by the evening before the departure date, or the early morning flight from Sâo Paulo to Cuiaba on the start date of your safari. On the final day of the safari, the return should be from Cuiaba to Sao Paulo around midday for your onward connections.
NOTE: USA, AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND passports require visas for Brazil. Please check current visa requirements before traveling! SMALL GROUP SIZE - SPACIOUS BOAT!We have limited the size of our groups to six guests and will use a large and spacious aluminium boat for our activities, each with me and Chris, an award-winning jaguar photographer, as your personal guides & instructors. This is NOT just another Pantanal Package! We spend 9 days on the rivers and creeks of the northern Pantanal and our photographic opportunities are certain to be excellent. Chris has photographed the Pantanal for more than a decade and is also, for sports fans, an internationally acclaimed soccer photographer with several World Cups under his belt! No wonder he loves Brazil so much!

It has taken several years of research and scouting to put together the right kind of Pantanal Experience, one that has enough comfort and convenience without compromising the true wilderness experience. While many operators choose to travel to the Pantanal in the peak periods of July through September, we have chosen the less-crowded ‘shoulder season’ in October to afford our guests a more holistic experience far from the madding crowds. In October 2023 however, I saw more than 28 different jaguars in our first nine days! Ever since that clip of video footage of the jaguar taking the caiman croc on a sandbar in the river went viral, as many as 30 boats at a time can crowd these waterways in the peak season. This is NOT the experience we wish to give our guests! We have also chosen a lodge and accommodation option that will help us maximize our time seeking and photographing the wildlife the Pantanal is famous for. The Pantanal Norte Porto Jofre Hotel, for example, has gardens literally teeming with hyacinth macaws & a variety of other birdlife. Our rooms here are basic but en-suite and spacious, AND fully air-conditioned… right at the water’s edge. Our locally-based boat captains are acknowledged as the finest and most intuitive & knowledgeable on the river!
